MrsG wrote a review Nov Amazing little boutique hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble - with only 12 room you feel just like your in someone home! I did have a sneak peak at a few other rooms and all offer something unique but all very beautiful indeed. We had dinner at le talbooth , driven there in the hotel chauffeur car and the food was amazing!
A very high standard indeed and the staff also took great care of us - plenty of choices for gluten free too We also dined at the Milsom - it was very busy on arrival but the staff were quick to seat us and again the food was amazing this is more of a gastro pub , large and lovely portions.
Thank you to the wonderful staff …. Read more. Date of stay: November Trip type: Traveled as a couple. Helpful Share. Flyer wrote a review Oct House party. We were lucky enough to stay here for a House Party, with exclusive use of the hotel and facilities for our friend's 40th. The hotel surpassed expectations, there is nothing missing for total luxury from the hot tub, to spa treatments, to sumptuous decor and stunning grounds.
The staff worked tirelessly to ensure everything went like clockwork, and were anticipating our needs before we even had to voice them. I'm already trying to think of an excuse to come here again as soon as possible.

We stayed her on Friday night on the recommendation of friends, we chose this particular hotel over the others in the group specifically for the pool and hot tub , unfortunately the pool boiler had broke so the pool was freezing and the pool house smelt of sewage!

We booked the 'Gourmet Getaway' and were delighted to discover that we had been allocated Maison Talbooth's Shakespeare room. A beautiful bathroom, extremely generous and comfortable bed and many individual touches including complimentary soft drinks, crisps and cookies. We enjoyed the use of the heated outdoor pool and hot tub, all beautifully presented in well cared for grounds which overlook Dedham Vale, providing stunning scenery.
After a fabulous dinner at Le Talbooth chauffeur driven in a brand new M7 BMW from the hotel , we returned to find our bed had been turned down ready for us - a nice touch. A lovely location looking out across the almost picture-perfect English countryside of Dedham Vale. It is also in the heart of Constable Country, walking distance from the village of Dedham, where the artist went to school, and from where you can strike out across the meadows to the site of his most famous painting, The Haywain, at Flatford Mill.
The hotel of the highly regarded and long-established Le Talbooth restaurant down the road, Maison Talbooth was the first in the excellent Essex-Suffolk Milsoms group, and it opened almost half a century ago when en-suite facilities were a rarity and black-and-white televisions considered an innovation.
These days its style is that of a relaxed, perhaps slightly old-fashioned country house, at which standards are high and nothing is too much trouble. However, no one stands on ceremony: rooms are large and comfy, and there are lots of attentive staff on hand should you need anything.
As the flagship of the Milsoms group, the Maison Talbooth has always been the country-house complement to its excellent restaurant, situated in a beautiful location down by the river Stour.
They serve breakfast, snacks and lunch in the hotel, and provide room service until 9. There is a comfy lounge, just off the lobby, a spa offering manicures, pedicures and face and body treatments, and the gardens are home to an all-weather tennis court and a heated outside swimming pool, where there is also a cosy pool room with hot tub, a log fire burning all day, satellite televison and drinks and snacks provided from a well-stocked honesty bar.
Just twelve good-sized rooms, ranging from Standard to Principal and taking in Superior and Deluxe along the way. All the rooms have tea and coffee, complimentary water and soft drinks, satellite TV, Bose sound systems and big bathrooms with aromatherapy toiletries. The Deluxe and Principal rooms have baths and walk-in showers; enjoy the best of the views over Dedham Vale.
The hotel serves an excellent breakfast in its Garden Room from a menu of cooked options and a buffet with the usual cereals, fruit and pastries. They also serve lunch and afternoon tea but the main event is dinner at Le Talbooth, where you're whisked in two minutes by the hotel's Range Rover, and which occupies the almost ludicrously picturesque beamed old tollhouse on the tranquil river Stour.
